Klay: 'Last year we got too comfortable when we went up 3-1'
Klay Thompson doesn't plan on making the same mistake twice.
His Golden State Warriors find themselves in a familiar spot: up 2-0 in the NBA Finals over the Cleveland Cavaliers, just as they were last year. When the series shifted to Ohio in 2016, the Warriors were blown out by 30 points in Game 3 and eventually lost the series in seven games.
None of that is lost on Thompson.
"We still have it fresh in our minds what happened last year," he said Tuesday in an interview with Memphis Grizzlies veteran Vince Carter.
"Just learn from it. Last year we got too comfortable when we went up 3-1. You're thinking about a parade or you think you got it in the bag. You think about that party. But now being up 2-0, we can't relax. We have the feeling we're not relaxing, either."

Golden State will take the floor Wednesday night in search of its first Game 3 victory at Quicken Loans in three attempts, as Cleveland was able to "Defend the Land" in the third game of the last two Finals. Now riding a 14-0 playoff streak, the third time could be the charm for the Dubs.
