Draymond: Winning title in Cleveland 'would be very satisfying'
There's no denying that winning the NBA championship at Oracle Arena this year in front of a raucous crowd would be a special moment for the Golden State Warriors. All-Star forward Draymond Green, however, thinks he'd get just as much of a thrill lifting the Larry O'Brien Trophy on the road.
"It would be very satisfying to do that," Green said at practice Thursday, according to Newsday's Al Iannazzone. "Obviously we've won it here before. It's a good feeling.
"We're celebrating on their floor, celebrating in their locker room, quieting their crowd. As an athlete, one of the best feelings is going into an opponent's and enemy territory and just silencing their crowd."
In 2015, Golden State closed out The Finals in Game 6 at Quicken Loans Arena with a 105-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, capturing the franchise's first title since 1975.
The Warriors are on the verge of winning another title in Cleveland - although much earlier in the series. If they take Game 4 on Friday night and sweep the defending champions, Golden State will own the the first 16-0 playoff run in NBA history. No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit, yet even a single win could change momentum in a hurry, and that's something Green wants his team to avoid.
"You don't want to prolong a series and give a team more and more confidence," Green added. "The opportunity is to win it here so you want to take advantage of that and try to close it out as soon as you can."
