Report: Rockets plan to offer Harden another contract extension
The Houston Rockets are determined to keep James Harden from hitting free agency.
Houston's front office plans to pitch Harden on a contract extension for a second straight summer, sources told Jonathan Feigan of the Houston Chronicle.
Harden will be on the Rockets until the 2018-19 season, and holds a $32-million player option for 2019-20 as per the terms of his last extension. He can have another four years added to his deal worth $168 million this summer to remain in Houston for the next half decade.
The 27-year-old combo guard was unanimously named to the All-NBA First Team after guiding the Rockets to a stellar bounce-back campaign. Harden averaged 29.1 points per game and led the league with 11.2 assists to rank as a co-favorite for Most Valuable Player.
