Ujiri: Kyle Lowry says 'he wants to come back' to Raptors
There's no better source pertaining to Kyle Lowry's future with the Toronto Raptors than Lowry himself.
Even with a report having circulated - which was later shut down on Twitter - that Lowry has been "grumbling about dissatisfaction" with the organization for months, Raptors president Masai Ujiri chooses to listen to his All-Star point guard over the sources being bandied about.
"He's been a part of our organization, and he says he wants to come back," Ujiri told the media Tuesday morning. "I know, speculation ... with the article. We all have ups and downs. There are times when he's been down, and there are times when we are down. It happens to every team, every player. People go through it.
"I know what Kyle has told me. Kyle has been here working out - he actually just left - so I know what he has been telling me. I can only believe what he tells me, not the famous 'sources.'"
When news broke that other teams around the league were being told last month that there was "zero interest" on Lowry's part to return, the 31-year-old made sure to set the record straight on social media by vehemently denying it.
Lowry averaged 22.4 points, seven assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in his fifth season north of the border. Should he elect to remain where he is, he'll be eligible for a max contract worth roughly $200 million over five years.
