Report: Kings release Arron Afflalo
Another veteran shooting guard has hit the market.
The Sacramento Kings released Arron Afflalo from his partially guaranteed contract on Friday, sources told Shams Charania of The Vertical.
Afflalo would have earned $12.5 million for the 2017-18 season, but his deal was only guaranteed for $1.5 million before June 24. He will now become an unrestricted free agent.
The 31-year-old once profiled as a solid two-way shooting guard, but his skills have quickly eroded in recent seasons. He averaged just 8.4 points last season while playing 26 minutes per night and wasn't necessarily a game-changer on either end of the floor.
Nevertheless, Afflalo can still shoot. He's a lifetime 38.6 percent shooter and connected on 41.1 percent of his attempts from deep last season. That skill alone should earn him another contract.
