Kenyon Martin challenges Knicks' Noah: I'll play you for your contract
Joakim Noah's career with the New York Knicks is off to a rocky start.
So rocky, in fact, that a former NBA player is ripping him to shreds.
Ex-Knick Kenyon Martin recently took some shots at his former club, and one player in particular. In trying to prove that team president Phil Jackson isn't a good evaluator of talent, Martin pointed to Noah, whom the Knicks signed to a four-year, $72-million deal last summer.
"(Jackson) gave Joakim Noah $70 million, man. Boy can't hit his ass with both hands, man," Martin said on "HOT 97."
"That boy suck, man."
K-Mart indicated that the 2013-14 DPOY deserves only the league minimum based on his skill set. Moreover, Martin - who hasn't suited up in the NBA since 2015 and turns 40 later this year - believes he's better than Noah and challenged him for his megadeal.
"I'll play him for his contract," Martin said. "Right now."
The former No. 1 pick, who's now serving as the captain of BIG3 team Trilogy, refused to give Noah any credit for his hard-nosed defense and rebounding that saw him earn All-Star, All-Defensive, and All-NBA honors as a member of the Chicago Bulls.
More recently, Noah averaged just five points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in his first season with the bottom-dwelling Knicks. He was limited to just 46 games due to injury, and underwent shoulder and knee surgery. The 32-year-old was also suspended for violating the terms of the league's Anti-Drug Program.
Martin insisted his rant about Noah isn't personal, and strictly about basketball.
Uh huh.
