Report: Clippers agree to trade Chris Paul to Rockets
The Houston Rockets are getting themselves a Point God.
After agreeing to opt in to his contract, the Los Angeles Clippers will now trade Chris Paul to the Rockets, league sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Clippers will receive a package of Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, a first-round pick in 2018 that's top-three protected, and $661,000, as well as DeAndre Liggins, Darrun Hilliard, and Kyle Wiltjer, sources told Wojnarowski.
Paul and fellow All-Star guard James Harden were reportedly determined to play alongside each other, with this blockbuster presenting the perfect opportunity to do so.
The 32-year-old was also strongly considering joining the San Antonio Spurs, but was intrigued by the idea of playing off the ball more while also sharing the responsibility of running the point with Harden, sources told ESPN's Marc J. Spears.
Paul's option for the 2017-18 season is worth $24.2 million.

He spent six seasons in a Clippers uniform, averaging 18.8 points on 47.5 percent shooting, 9.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals across 409 games. Los Angeles never once advanced to the Western Conference finals, though, and was bounced in the first round this past season by the Utah Jazz in seven games.
