Report: Clippers, Pierce extend contract deadline to allow trade before retirement

Now in a post-Chris Paul world, the Los Angeles Clippers are clearly not opposed to moving assets, and the more they have, the better.
The Clippers and Paul Pierce have agreed to extend the deadline on the 39-year-old's contract to allow him to be traded before he retires, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
Only $1 million of the $3.6 million he's set to make in 2017-18 is guaranteed, and if the Clippers so choose, they can move that alone or as part of a larger deal.
Head coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers said last summer that he has plans in place for Pierce to retire as a member of the Boston Celtics once The Truth elected to call it a career, which could come into play here.
