Report: Klay Thompson signs 10-year, $80M extension with Anta
No wonder Klay Thompson is having the time of his life during his eventful promotional tour through China.
Thompson inked a 10-year renegotiation to continue representing Chinese apparel brand Anta, sources told Nick DePaula of Nice Kicks. He initially signed with the brand in 2014.
The extension could reach $80 million including incentives, which puts Thompson among the 10 highest-earning sneaker endorsers in the NBA. Anta devoted an entire signature sneaker line to Thompson, who is by far its biggest star.
Thompson isn't necessarily a flashy player, but his continued success in successful programs has kept him firmly in the spotlight. Winning two titles with the Golden State Warriors and capturing gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics raised Thompson's visibility, which likely contributed to his latest deal with Anta.
"The last three years, my career just exploded, in the NBA and internationally, I was able to win two gold medals, two NBA titles, played in a few All-Star games and get to be on the world stage all the time," Thompson told DePaula.
"Knowing that these guys got my back and they want me to be a lifer, that’s special," Thompson added. "Not a lot of guys sign shoe deals like this. I’m very, very happy to be with Anta."
