Cavs' Richard Jefferson defrauded out of $7M
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Richard Jefferson has earned roughly $109 million over his 16-year NBA career, but it's not all roses for Jefferson's financial estate.
An Arizona federal grand jury recently charged Jefferson's ex-business manager, Theodore Kritza, for defrauding Jefferson out of nearly $7 million.
"Kritza is charged with 22 counts of bank fraud, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft," according to a U.S. District Court indictment referenced by Tucson.com. "Kritza fraudulently transferred $6.99 million from Jefferson's accounts to his own accounts from 2004 to 2013."
Kritza purportedly forged Jefferson's signature for his own financial benefit back in 2005, though Jefferson didn't uncover the development until 2012 "when he bought a home and learned of an outstanding loan."
To make the financial situation even messier on Jefferson's end, the NBA veteran paid "between $90,000 and $250,000 annually for Kritza's services."
