Report: Pacers agree to 2-year, $20M deal with Darren Collison
The Indiana Pacers are bringing back an old face.
Indiana reached an agreement with 29-year-old free-agent point guard Darren Collison on a two-year, $20-million contract, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Collison spent two seasons with the Pacers between 2010 and 2012 after making his rookie debut with the New Orleans Hornets. The former 21st overall pick averaged 11.9 points and five assists in a Pacers uniform while proving to be an effective drive-and-dish guard.
Those same skills served him well through stops in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Sacramento. Collison enjoyed one of his most productive seasons last year after returning from a suspension for pleading guilty to domestic assault.
The Pacers had been looking to acquire a veteran point guard to guide them through a transition season following the departure of Paul George. This chase reportedly led the Pacers to hold discussions with the Toronto Raptors about a potential trade for Cory Joseph, but the addition of Collison likely brings those talks to a close.
