Report: Clippers discussing sign-and-trade for Grizzlies' Tony Allen
USA Today Sports
The Los Angles Clippers have spoken with the Memphis Grizzlies regarding a potential sign-and-trade for veteran guard Tony Allen, a source told TNT's David Aldridge.
The Clippers are seeking wing help following the departures of J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford. While Allen's offensive game is limited, the 35-year-old remains a stout defender and a positive locker room presence.
Allen's departure would all but mark the official end of the Grizzlies' "Grindhouse" era. Power forward Zach Randolph reportedly signed with the Sacramento Kings this week.
Allen began his career under current Clippers coach Doc Rivers in 2004-05 with the Boston Celtics.
