Report: Heat, Olynyk agree to 4-year, $50M deal

Unrestricted free-agent center Kelly Olynyk has agreed to sign with the Miami Heat, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday.

The deal will be worth more than $50 million over four years, with the final season being a player option, agent Greg Lawrence added.

Olynyk was initially a restricted free agent of the Boston Celtics, but they rescinded their qualifying offer once Gordon Hayward finally made up his mind. The fact the Heat fell short in the Hayward sweepstakes allowed them to poach Olynyk as a consolation price.

The 26-year-old was a useful bench piece for the Celtics for four seasons. His defensive shortcomings meant he couldn't hold a starting role, but his ability to stretch the floor, coupled with strong playmaking skills, made him a dynamic (if awkward) offensive talent.

Olynyk averaged nine points, 4.8 rebounds, and two assists last season while hitting 51.2 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from deep.
