Report: Heat in advanced talks to send McRoberts to Mavs
The Miami Heat are in advanced discussions to send Josh McRoberts to the Dallas Mavericks in order to clear cap room to re-sign unrestricted free agent James Johnson, sources tell The Vertical's Shams Charania.
Dallas would also receive a future second-rounder as part of the deal, while Miami would obtain little-used center A.J. Hammons, sources tell Charania.
McRoberts is set to make roughly $6 million next season, while Hammons will earn just $1.3 million in 2017-18.
McRoberts averaged 4.9 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Heat last season before his season was cut short due to a stress fracture in his left foot. Hammons averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 22 games for the Mavericks.
Miami has been active over the past several days, reportedly agreeing to contracts with Dion Waiters and Kelly Olynyk.
