Ainge on Celtics roster: 'We're not comfortable yet'
The Boston Celtics have successfully started making over their roster with the anticipated acquisition of coveted free agent Gordon Hayward and Friday's trade of Avery Bradley - but it's not over yet.
According to the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett, Celtics GM Danny Ainge says there's still work to be done.
“No, we’re not comfortable yet,” Ainge said. “We do like our team, but we’re still going to search things out to see if we can find anything that makes us better this offseason.”
One component that will play into next season's team will be the leadership provided by Jae Crowder. Ainge confirmed the forward is a "big part" of the direction his team is going on. Crowder is also under contract for the next three years for roughly $22 million.
Ainge also commented on the role coach Brad Stevens will have right off the bat. He'll have to figure out how all of the pieces best fit together, and where changes can be implemented between now and February's trade deadline - should the right offers present themselves.
“Brad is very much involved in all that we do,” said Ainge. “We talk all the time, so I think we know how we think it will all fit. But obviously you never know for sure. We’re trying to get a team that not only is a group of good players, but also a team that does fit.”
