Report: Rockets turn 'full attention' to Carmelo

The Houston Rockets hope to make at least one more splashy addition before their wild offseason is over.

After locking James Harden into the most lucrative contract in NBA history Saturday and dealing for Chris Paul on the eve of free agency, the Rockets are still short a third star to truly compete for the championship.

Their "full attention" is now focused on acquiring New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Knicks continue to shop Anthony, an eight-time All-Star, despite the exit of former president Phil Jackson. New York plans to rebuild around its young core, and the 33-year-old Anthony doesn't fit the timeline.

Houston reportedly floated a trade package involving Ryan Anderson, which the Knicks flatly rejected.

Since Anthony holds a full no-trade clause along with a hefty trade kicker, any transaction would require his approval. Reports suggest, however, that he'd be open to being moved to Houston or Cleveland to join Paul or LeBron James, his good friends.

Anthony is reportedly confident that a deal to Houston can be struck.

Anthony is tied to a huge deal worth $26 million per year for the next two seasons, but remains one of the best individual scorers in the league. He averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists last season while appearing in 74 games.
