Report: Rose, Bucks haven't scheduled 2nd meeting despite mutual interest

The Milwaukee Bucks and former league Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose appear willing to join forces, yet the process of making that union a reality has hit a roadblock.

Despite their mutual interest, a second meeting between the two sides has yet to be scheduled, according to USA Today Sports' Jeff Zillgitt.

This comes after Rose's representatives informed ESPN's Chris Haynes that Milwaukee was in discussions to set up the meeting in Los Angeles as early as this weekend.

The 28-year-old point guard met with the Bucks just days into free agency.

Milwaukee is currently over the tax threshold by $1.6 million, and can use just $4.4 million of its $7.6-million mid-level exception to sign Rose before triggering the hard cap. Considering Rose had, at one time, been hopeful that he could land a max deal, which is seemingly out of the question now, the MLE may not be nearly enough to entice him.

Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon and the over $27 million left on Matthew Dellavedova's contract are still in the picture, begging to question what use the Bucks would even have for Rose at this point.

Last season with the New York Knicks, Rose averaged 18 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 64 appearances. This came after seven healthy years with the Chicago Bulls, which is where he won his 2011 MVP award.
