Report: Lakers meet with free agent Ian Clark
If Derrick Rose opts to sign elsewhere after meeting for three hours with Lakers brass Thursday, it appears the team has other options lined up for guard depth.
The team met with free-agent shooting guard Ian Clark for 45 minutes Thursday, a source told The Orange County Register's Mark Medina.
After going undrafted and splitting his first two seasons between the Jazz and Nuggets, Clark emerged as a consistent deep-rotation option for the Golden State Warriors.
In 143 games with the Dubs, he averaged 5.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, while shooting 45.6 percent from the field, though he posted career numbers while playing nearly 15 minutes per game for the eventual champions in 2016-17.
The Lakers signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a one-year deal this summer. The former Piston is expected to start, with Jordan Clarkson, Corey Brewer, and rookie Josh Hart providing depth at shooting guard. This year's No. 2 pick, Lonzo Ball, is firmly entrenched as the team's starting point guard.
The Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner reports that while the Lakers are interested in adding Clark, no deal is imminent.
