Report: Wall agrees to 4-year, $170M extension with Wizards
Washington Wizards point guard John Wall has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract extension set to pay him $170 million, with final year of the deal being a player option, per ESPN's Zach Lowe.
The contract extension will kick in for the 2019-2020 season, keeping Wall in a Washington jersey until 2022, with the player option for the 2022-23 campaign. The deal also includes a 15 percent trade kicker, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
In combination with the $37.1 million Wall is owed over the next two years of his current contract, the 26-year-old Kentucky product will amass roughly $207 million through the next six years, according to ESPN's David Aldridge.
The long-term implications of Wall's new deal have Washington facing an extremely difficult cap situation. Along with Bradley Beal and Otto Porter, the franchise has guaranteed contracts totaling $126 million, $126 million, $108 million, and $98 million over the next four years, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.
