Report: LeBron won't try to convince Kyrie to stay
If Kyrie Irving wants to go, LeBron James isn't going to try to change his mind.
Irving reportedly informed the Cleveland Cavaliers last week that he wants out, and James - who found out afterward - was "blindsided" by the request.
Despite his devastation and shock, James won't intervene, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
The 32-year-old superstar has taken a hands-off approach regarding team decisions this summer while he focuses on his workouts. He intends to try to lead his hometown club to a fourth straight NBA Finals appearance regardless of who else is on the squad.
And though James has taken a step back from recruiting, it's believed he's concerned about the front office's lack of meaningful activity this offseason.
While other contenders made moves to significantly bolster their rosters, the Cavaliers have made underwhelming additions in Jeff Green, Jose Calderon, and rookie Cedi Osman.
The three-time champ's Finals streak - which currently stands at seven - was already in jeopardy given the Boston Celtics' addition of Gordon Hayward. If Irving is dealt, Cleveland could be in trouble, especially with the possibility of James leaving, too.
The four-time MVP could be a free agent again next summer and take his talents elsewhere, which may explain his waning involvement in the team's personnel moves. There have been rumblings King James could be eyeing a move to Los Angeles, and it's been speculated that Irving wants to leave before LeBron does, in addition to joining a team where he'll be the No. 1 option.

The 25-year-old All-Star put up 25.2 points, 5.8 dimes, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game last season. He also averaged the most shot attempts and posted the highest usage rate on the Cavs in 2016-17.
