Grizzlies expect Parsons to be ready for training camp
Let's try this again.
For the third straight year, Chandler Parsons will enter an NBA campaign coming off season-ending surgery to one of his knees.
Despite that, Memphis Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace expects Parsons to be a full participant in training camp, according to FOX Sports South's Phillip Dean.
Parsons underwent surgery in March to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. It was a brutal end to his terrible first season in Memphis, one in which the 6-foot-10 forward hit career lows in every major statistical category.
A year ago, Parsons inked a four-year, $95-million max contract with the Grizzlies a few months after undergoing surgery on his left meniscus as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. He would miss all of the preseason and 24 of the Grizzlies' first 30 games, ultimately only appearing in a career-low 34 contests.
However, Wallace said he and the Grizzlies are receiving promising information regarding Parsons' progress, according to FOX 13's Peter Fleischer.
When healthy, Parsons can be a difference-maker on the floor. Between 2012-16, he averaged 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on 38.5 percent 3-point shooting. As a floor spacer who can also rebound and facilitate, Parsons' A-game would be ideal on a Memphis team that has lost Zach Randolph and Vince Carter, and still has outstanding free agents in JaMychal Green and Tony Allen.
