Houston opens Toyota Center as flood shelter
The Toyota Center, the downtown home of the Houston Rockets, will become another flood shelter for the battered city, mayor Sylvester Turner said Tuesday.
The move is meant to ease the pressure on the nearby George R. Brown Convention Center, which has been housing people displaced by the record flooding brought on by Hurricane Harvey. The Houston Office of Emergency Management is still asking that residents check in at the convention center first.

The Toyota Center opened in 2003 and has hosted two NBA All-Star weekends.
