Nowitzki embracing 'Big Mummy' nickname from ex-Mavs teammate
Dirk Nowitzki has never been the most limber individual on the hardwood, and that reality is even more evident as he enters his 20th season with the Dallas Mavericks at the ripe old age of 39.
The 13-time All-Star is feeling particularly stiff these days, yet his current physical state is responsible for what he labeled as his favorite nickname of all time on Tuesday evening - a nickname which was coined by his former Mavericks teammate Darrell Armstrong:
I'm so stiff these days that my ex teammate Darrell Armstrong calls me my favorite nickname of all time: "The big mummy"
— Dirk Nowitzki (@swish41) September 12, 2017
Currently an assistant coach under Rick Carlisle, Armstrong was also a member of the roster for two seasons back in 2004 through 2006.
Halloween is just around the corner. If Nowitzki truly wants to embrace his new nickname (one that probably won't stick, mind you), a mummy costume is really the only way to go.
