Watch: Fisher embraces basketball theme in cringe-worthy 'DWTS' clip

In the most whimsical basketball performance since Prince beat the late Charlie Murphy in a pickup game, former Lakers guard Derek Fisher really took the hoops theme to heart in the "Dancing with the Stars" premiere.

This clip has it all: A five-time champ in a purple sequined jumpsuit dribbling to the beat of Kurtis Blow's "Basketball," and then nearly dropping his partner face-first onto the stage.

ABC's recap of the performance noted that "(DWTS judge Bruno Tonioli) felt that Derek was commanding the stage but gave him some tips on doing a proper salsa."

Fisher received a score of 18 out of a possible 30 points from the judges.
