Paul George: 'Didn't know I was gonna be traded'
Paul George may have been blindsided by the Indiana Pacers.
The All-Star swingman was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder in July in exchange for guard Victor Oladipo and forward Domantas Sabonis.
George shared a video montage Thursday of his intense offseason workouts - including underwater weightlifting - and revealed in the caption: "Didn't know I was gonna be traded but what happened, happened."
After the transaction became official, George admitted he was taken aback by the club he was traded to, rather than the trade itself.
"It was surprising," he told reporters on July 12. "(OKC) wasn't one of the teams that we had in mind. I thought I was going to four or five other teams that were pretty active in trade (talks)."
Earlier in the summer, George informed the Pacers he was going to opt out of his contract following the 2017-18 season, and preferred the Los Angeles Lakers as a possible destination. The four-time All-Star was linked in trade rumors to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, and Lakers before being shipped to Oklahoma City.
Now that the shock factor has subsided, George seems pumped and ready to have a great year with the Thunder alongside reigning MVP Russell Westbrook. PG-13 has even said he has his sights set on succeeding the point guard in capturing the award.
