76ers' Brown thinks shoulder soreness affecting Fultz's odd free-throw form
Philadelphia 76ers No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz became a topic of discussion Monday on Twitter for his unsightly free-throw form in a loss to the Boston Celtics.
Sixers coach Brett Brown says that Fultz's curious release could be tied to a shoulder injury, which might also explain his hesitancy to shoot the three.
"I think (his shoulder) is affecting him more than he lets on," Brown told Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer. "You can tell with his free throw, trying to get that ball up. It’s far out from his body.
"He’s been working on trying to get that thing rehabilitated. And the lack of the quantity of his 3-point shooting may be a sign that it’s hurting a little more than he’s letting on."
Fultz might also be looking to change his form after making just 64.9 percent of his attempts from the charity stripe in college. Couple that with his wonky health, and it's no wonder his shot looks so bad.
