Watch: Hayward sends video message to Celtics fans during home opener

Physically unable to be at the TD Garden Wednesday night after being diagnosed with a dislocated ankle and fractured tibia, Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward recorded a video message for fans that was played during the team's home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks.

"What's up everybody? Just wanted to say thank you to everyone whose had me in their thoughts and prayers," said Hayward. "I'm going to be alright. It hurt me that I can't be there for the home opener. I want nothing more than to be with my teammates and walk out on that floor tonight. I'll be supporting you guys from here. Wishing you the best of luck. Kill it tonight. Thanks guys."

Hayward suffered the injury midway through the first quarter of Boston's 102-99 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers to open the season Tuesday.

Fans in attendance Wednesday were also able to sign a get-well card for Hayward, sending their thoughts and prayers to the 27-year-old All-Star.
