Durant says he waved ring finger, not middle one, at Grizzlies fan
It was arrogance, not anger from Kevin Durant as the Golden State Warriors unraveled against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Stephen Curry was ejected for whipping his mouth guard at an official, then Durant was kicked out shortly thereafter for arguing with another referee. As Durant walked out, it was picked up on the broadcast that he giddily showed the finger to some Grizzlies fans.
The reigning Finals MVP clarified after the game that it was the ring finger - as in nodding to his championship - and not the middle finger that he showed.
"I give the ring finger," Durant told Anthony Slater of The Athletic. "I'm sure everyone thinks I'm the angry black athlete so I gotta put my middle finger up but I put my ring finger."
Durant's intentions were pretty clear on the replays, as it shows him putting up his fourth digit while talking the loss in Memphis.
Looking back it lol I think he’s right it was the ring finger 😂 pic.twitter.com/KWfw5ou9cq
