John Wall will show 'no mercy' against Lonzo since LaVar opened his mouth
Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball has a target on his back thanks to his father LaVar.
Case in point: Washington Wizards point guard John Wall plans to hound Lonzo in their upcoming battle on Wednesday. Wall vowed to show "no mercy" and blamed LaVar for what's about to come Lonzo's way.
"Certain matchups you really get up for. Like when you play (Golden State Warriors guard) Steph (Curry), you definitely want to have a good game," Wall told Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.
"I'm playing against (Lonzo). (Wizards center Marcin Gortat) said what he said about me. I didn't say anything. His dad has been talking … that makes me want to go out there and lead my team and play the best I can play."
LaVar warned Washington that Lonzo wasn't about to lose twice in a row, which drew a response from Gortat, who laughed off the challenge. Wall stayed silent about it until he spoke with Buckner.
"His dad has gone on top of all that," Wall said of LaVar's antics. "Forget what the media is saying. 'This is what my son is.' Which, I'm not knocking him. He's hyping his son up but he's already getting all that hype. … He's just taking it to another level.
"We didn't say nothing about him, nothing to him, and (LaVar) says, 'The Wizards better be ready because he don't ever lose two in a row.' Like, this is the league now. It’'s a different ballgame," Wall sneered.
Wall is coming off an All-NBA second-team nod and is arguably the best two-way point guard in the league. He's much stronger than the 19-year-old and can be an intimidating on-ball defender much like how Patrick Beverley tortured Lonzo in his NBA debut.
