Durant: Curry is 'perfect leader' for Warriors, joy to work with
When Kevin Durant announced he was joining the Golden State Warriors ahead of last season, many wondered if he would eclipse Stephen Curry as the preeminent star on a roster studded with several of them.
More than a year - plus a championship win - later, it's become abundantly clear that it's still Curry's team, and he has Durant's full support.
"I can't even explain how great of a person he is and how caring he is for other people," Durant said, as quoted by Mercury News' Mark Medina.
"He shows that every single day, no matter if you're in here or not. He's the same persona and wants that for everybody. That's a kid-like trait that he has. He brings that same type of joy to the game of basketball. It's contagious."
The All-NBA point guard paces the Warriors with 25.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 1.8 steals this season. He's also been their voice off the court, where he addresses social issues and was the reason President Donald Trump rescinded the team's invitation to visit the White House. More recently, Curry made a plea for people to do what they can to help the nation's struggling veterans.
"Let's talk about the broken VA medical system, and traumatic brain injuries, and PTSD. But let's also talk about homelessness, and unemployment, and mental health, and, yes, racial inequality," he wrote in a The Players' Tribune document published on Veterans Day.

Durant praised his fellow former MVP for using his voice to try to inspire positive change.
"I'm sure everybody appreciated what he said. The perfect leader for our team and our organization. It's a joy to get to work with him every day," he said.
