Warriors' Young insists 'there's no beef' with D'Angelo Russell

During the 2015-16 season, Nick Young was experiencing troubles both on and off the court. Then a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Young was shooting a dismal 33.9 percent from the field and averaging a career-low 7.3 points per game.

Then-teammate D'Angelo Russell added to Young's troubles, recording him in a hotel room talking about cheating on his ex-fiancee, rapper Iggy Azalea. The video would ultimately end the couple's engagement.

Young - now a member of the Golden State Warriors - is ready to move on from the incident and doesn't believe seeing Russell - now a Brooklyn Net - will be an awkward encounter.

"There’s no beef," Young said, according to Mark Medina of The Mercury News. "It’ll be like seeing an old teammate."

Young acknowledged how bad that year was for him and is happy to play elsewhere, avoiding the drama that haunted him during his tenure in Los Angeles. He fared better during his last year with the Lakers, starting all 60 games that he played and shooting over 40 percent from three.

"I just wanted to play basketball again," Young said. "That whole year was so bad. I just wanted to be in the gym and get a chance to play. I don’t want to go out like that, and my career is over."

Young spent four seasons in L.A., two of which were with Russell. The Lakers moved on from both this past offseason, choosing not to re-sign Young and trading Russell to the Nets.

The Warriors are visiting Brooklyn on Sunday night, but with Russell out indefinitely with a knee injury, the two will have to wait to meet on the court again.
