White House social media director rips 'wannabe Lakers coach' LaVar
LaVar Ball's suggestion that president Donald Trump had little to do with the release of his son, LiAngelo Ball, and fellow UCLA freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill following their arrest in China has irked the White House director of social media.
Dan Scavino Jr. fired back at the elder Ball on Twitter Saturday afternoon, stating that LiAngelo would have been in China "for a long, long, long time" if not for Trump's help.
Wannabe @Lakers coach, BIG MOUTH @Lavarbigballer knows if it weren’t for President @realDonaldTrump, his son would be in China for a long, long, long time! #FACT https://t.co/j2GcY7F4f9

The players, who were detained in China on suspicion of shoplifting during a recent team trip, thanked Trump for his part in bringing them back home at a press conference Wednesday.
LaVar, however, minimized Trump's role in the matter, responding "Who?" when asked about it by ESPN's Arash Markazi.
