Report: Patrick Beverley to miss rest of season after knee surgery
It just gets worse and worse for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Point guard Patrick Beverley will miss the remainder of the season as he underwent surgery to correct a microfracture and meniscus injury in his right knee, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Beverley was initially ruled out indefinitely after going under the knife earlier Wednesday. Given the scope of the damage that was found, Beverley will now reportedly require at least nine months to recover.
He first suffered the injury earlier in November and sat out five games, before returning for a 22-minute stint in Los Angeles' blowout loss to the New York Knicks on Monday.
This latest development comes as yet another devastating blow for the Clippers, who have dropped nine in a row. Beverley joins Euroleague import Milos Teodosic and prime offseason addition Danilo Gallinari on the injured reserve, which has taken all the steam out of a team that won its first four games of the season.
Having started Chris Paul for over half a decade, the Clippers will now call upon second-round rookie guard Sindarius Thornwell to be their starting point guard for the foreseeable future.
Beverley averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals in 11 appearances for the Clippers this season. He is under contract through 2019.
