The New York Knicks appear to have dodged a bullet with their franchise big man.
Kristaps Porzingis limped off the hardwood Wednesday at Madison Square Garden and was helped to the locker room after Miami Heat forward Justise Winslow stepped on his right foot.
The injury occurred with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter as Porzingis attempted to chase down a rebound.
He was eventually diagnosed with a sprained right ankle after his X-rays came back negative, with the Knicks electing to keep him out for the remainder of the game.
Entering the matchup, the 22-year-old 7-footer ranked fourth in the Association in scoring (27) and first in rejections (2.2) for the 10-10 Knicks.
