Spurs' Anderson suffers likely MCL sprain, will have MRI Monday
The snake-bitten San Antonio Spurs were finally starting to get healthy, with Tony Parker having worked his way back and Kawhi Leonard seemingly not far behind. But they lost another rotation player Sunday night, when Kyle Anderson suffered a left knee injury in the third quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Anderson appeared to twist his knee after having his foot landed on by Thunder swingman Josh Huestis. He fell to the ground howling in pain, and had to be helped to the locker room.
The Spurs announced that Anderson had an MCL sprain, though the diagnosis is reportedly unconfirmed. Anderson will have an MRI on Monday to provide clarity on the extent of the injury, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Anderson has been a crucial cog for the Spurs this season, stepping up in the absence of Leonard and playing a career-high 27.7 minutes a game. He came into Monday's game averaging nine points, 6.1 rebounds, three assists, and 1.1 steals with a .513/.364/.765 shooting split.
