Mike D'Antoni's wife gets revenge on Magic Johnson 3 years later
The D'Antoni family was in familiar territory at the Staples Center on Sunday night, as the Houston Rockets crushed the Los Angeles Lakers to improve to 18-4 on the season. Mike D'Antoni didn't say much after the win, but given the history between her husband and the Lakers franchise, Laura D'Antoni spoke up.
The "happy days" comment was a call back to comments made by Magic Johnson in 2014 after Mike D'Antoni resigned following a tumultuous season that saw an aging Lakers team swept in the first round of the playoffs.
Johnson was not the president of the team then, but he was an outspoken Lakers advocate who danced on D'Antoni's grave.
As with most of Magic's old tweets, this one didn't age well.
Mike D'Antoni took a few years off before returning to glory with the Rockets. He won Coach of the Year last season after helping Houston to a 55-win campaign, and his team is now leading the West at the quarter pole of his second year as Rockets coach.
As for Magic and the Lakers, they haven't made the playoffs since D'Antoni's departure.
