1 year ago today: Klay erupts for 60 points in 29 minutes
A year ago today, Klay Thompson had one of the most mind-blowing scoring outbursts of all time.
On Dec. 5, 2016, the Golden State Warriors shooting guard poured in a career-high 60 points in just 29 minutes in a win over the Indiana Pacers.
The All-Star said he "felt every shot (he) took was a good shot," and for the most part, he was right.
Here are some notable numbers from his performance:
- Thompson became the first player in the shot-clock era to score 60 in under 30 minutes, and the fastest to the milestone since 2005, when Kobe Bryant dropped 62 in 33 minutes.
- He's the first Warrior to hit the 60-point plateau in more than four decades (Rick Barry scored 64 points in 1974).
- The catch-and-shoot king had the ball in his hands for 80 seconds and dribbled only 11 times.
- His average of 2.07 points per minute comes just shy of Wilt Chamberlain's rate of 2.08 on his 100-point night.
Thompson didn't have the opportunity to go for 100 because he was yanked with 1:22 remaining in the third quarter, as the Warriors already had the game in the bag at that point.

Thompson was so hot that his Splash Brother Stephen Curry tried to cool him down following the 142-106 win with an ice bath ... to no avail.
