Celtics' Hayward out of walking boot
Another step in the right direction for Gordon Hayward and the Boston Celtics.
Nearly two months after suffering a devastating fractured tibia and dislocated left ankle six minutes into the Celtics' season opener, Hayward's walking boot is finally off, according to ESPN's Chris Forsberg.
There was much speculation about the removal of the boot Wednesday, but Hayward made it official, saying "today has been awesome without the boot," according to Forsberg.
It's great news for the Celtics, as Hayward's recovery is ahead of schedule. Although speculation for a late-season return has been hinted, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens has repeatedly refuted any conversation on the matter, reaffirming that the Celtics are assuming he won't return this season.
Hayward had surgery Oct. 18, one day after the injury.
Hayward signed a lucrative four-year, $128-million deal in the offseason after playing seven seasons with the Utah Jazz.
