Report: Fans shouted anti-gay slurs at Lillard outside of Target Center
The obscenities directed at Damian Lillard following the Portland Trail Blazers' 108-107 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday are now coming to light.
A couple of fans shouted anti-gay slurs at Lillard as he walked to the team bus outside of Target Center, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes.
"I don't bother nobody," said Lillard. "They were straight disrespectful."
This interaction was caught on video by a bystander in the area, showing Lillard confronting the fans to find out who said the slurs.
A woman pointed out one of the rowdy fans, who then apologized to Lillard. The 26-year-old guard confirmed this on Twitter later that evening.
Sources told Haynes that no actions were taken against the fans for what they said.
Lillard finished with a near triple-double of 17 points, eight rebounds, and 13 assists against the Timberwolves, but was a tad aggravated for what he believed to be a lack of love from the officials in getting to the charity stripe (1-of-1 in 37 minutes).
