Oladipo credits success this season to Westbrook's influence
Victor Oladipo is in the midst of a breakout campaign after drawing inspiration from the Brodie.
The 25-year-old shooting guard was traded to the Indiana Pacers this past offseason following one year with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He witnessed Russell Westbrook's historic MVP season firsthand, so he understands how much work it takes to be great. But Dipo doesn't just want to match the bar set by Russ, he wants to surpass it.
"One thing I learned from him (Westbrook) is he's on 110 every day," Oladipo said, according to IndyStar's Joseph Spears. "The thing about me is that he's on 110, I'm trying to get to 115. That's something he kinda instilled in me without doing anything. Just being himself and that's how I am here.
"My teammates will tell you, 'I don't understand how he does it. He's on 110 everyday.' I don't know how I do it. It's motivation. I'm chasing something every morning. Before I go to sleep, every time I wake up, all I think about is chasing No. 1. Whoever No. 1 is, team, player, that's who I'm chasing and I gotta work hard everyday to get there."

The increased effort has been paying off handsomely, with the former No. 2 pick putting up career highs across the board with 24.9 points on 48.1 shooting from the field and 42.8 percent from deep to go along with 5.5 rebounds 1.8 steals, and a block per game.
Oladipo has led the Pacers to a 17-14 record - tied for sixth in the East and well above preseason expectations. He doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon, with an ultimate goal of getting on Westbrook's level as a future Hall of Famer.
