Nike to release signature shoes for Westbrook, Giannis
"Brodie" and the Greek Freak are getting some shoe love.
Nike CEO Mark Parker revealed Thursday that the sports apparel giant will give Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook his own trademark basketball shoe under the Jordan Brand line, and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is also set to get signature footwear under the Nike umbrella.
"Jordan Brand will launch its first signature shoe with reigning MVP Russell Westbrook," Parker said, according to Sole Collector's Brandon Richard. "We're also thrilled to expand our relationship with Giannis Antetokounmpo as we bring his unique personality to life through new signature product and storytelling next year."
Westbrook, who signed a massive 10-year contract extension with Jordan Brand in September, has been the face of the popular sneaker franchise since originally signing with them in 2012.
Though the label spotlighted the dynamic Thunder guard with his own "Russ" colorway for the Air Jordan XXXII, which was released in November, and two off-court sneakers (the Westbrook 0 and 0.2), he's never had his own signature basketball shoe.
