Klay Thompson to compete in Three-Point Contest if he makes All-Star team
If Klay Thompson is named a 2018 All-Star, expect to see him hoisting up long-range bombs the night prior to the big game.
The Golden State Warriors sharpshooter recently told ESPN's Chris Haynes that if he cracks the roster, he'll compete in the Three-Point Contest during All-Star Saturday night.
"I've got to win another one," said Thompson.
Six players have won the shootout on multiple occasions: Craig Hodges, Larry Bird, Peja Stojakovic, Jeff Hornacek, Mark Price, and Jason Kapono.
Thompson has participated in each of the last three years, winning in 2015-16 by defeating fellow Splash Brother Stephen Curry in the final round with a score of 27.
He's currently converting a career-best 45.8 percent from behind the arc, good enough for fifth in the Association. Thompson - an All-Star every year since 2015 - is also averaging 20.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists for the 26-6 Warriors.
The 2018 All-Star Game will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 18.
