Report: Rockets formally protest loss to Clippers over officiating error

The Houston Rockets have filed an official protest with the NBA office over Friday's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, a source told Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

The Rockets are protesting on the grounds that the officials misattributed what should have been the sixth foul on Clippers guard Jawun Evans with 3:10 left in regulation. The foul, which would have knocked Evans out of the game, was given instead to Lou Williams, an error that was confirmed to Feigen by a league spokesman.

Evans played the remainder of the game, and in that time drew two charges on James Harden, grabbed an offensive rebound, and hit a pair of free throws to help seal the Clippers' 128-118 win. The Rockets were within three points at the time of the foul in question.

The league has five days to make a ruling on the protest.
