Ben Simmons, Jaylen Brown post cryptic tweets after Drummond picked for ASG
It doesn't look like everyone is on board with NBA commissioner Adam Silver's choice for John Wall's All-Star Game injury replacement.
The NBA announced Tuesday night that Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond would be taking Wall's spot on Team LeBron. Drummond "received the most voting points from NBA head coaches among Eastern Conference players who were not selected as reserves," according to the official release.
The rationale behind Drummond's selection was certainly just, yet a pair of young up-and-comers who were arguably in the conversation to be named replacements themselves seemingly didn't take the news well.
Rookie Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers posted the following tweet approximately 10 minutes after the Drummond announcement ...
... while Boston Celtics sophomore Jaylen Brown tweeted shortly thereafter:
It's extremely rare for first-year players like Simmons to earn All-Star nods. Since 2000, only Yao Ming (2003) and Blake Griffin (2011) have managed to crack the team.
Brown, on the other hand, wasn't a factor at all during the voting process among East guards, finishing 10th in fan voting and 15th in the player vote. Celtics teammate Kyrie Irving will be starting on Team LeBron, while Al Horford will be coming off the bench for Team Curry on Feb. 18.
Drummond currently leads the NBA in rebounding with 15.1 boards per game to go along with 14.7 points, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks.
