Gortat to Wall: 'Who's attacking who?'
It seems there is no end to the drama swirling around the Washington Wizards' locker room.
To recap, Wizards center Marcin Gortat sent an oddly-timed tweet on Thursday after a big win over the Toronto Raptors, calling it a "great 'team' victory." John Wall responded in an interview Tuesday with ESPN's "The Jump," claiming it was a "shock" to see Gortat tweet that, and reminded the Polish big man that he gets "the most spoon-fed baskets ever."
Well, it was Gortat's turn to clear the air.
"There wasn't definitely any hit at him, basically," Gortat said, according to The Washington Post's Candace Buckner. "We talk about team win with 30 assists a game, everybody played for each other. We enjoyed the game. And basically I see that, you know, he felt (a) different way. He felt it was a different way and he came back with that kind of comment. So, now we got to ask each other questions: Who's attacking who?"
The Wizards were on a five-game winning streak prior to Tuesday night's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. They had an opportunity to overtake the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers for third place in the East. The drama comes at a time when the team has been playing its best basketball of the season. Gortat says he has yet to speak to Wall since his comments.
"No, I talked to him a few days ago," Gortat said. "I thought we verified that. I told him that it was nothing personal and I definitely didn't think about him when I was writing that or whatever I was saying. We never thought about attacking him and I thought we had this verified."
Wall is reportedly expected to miss six-to-eight weeks after undergoing arthroscopic debridement procedure on his left knee last Wednesday. Gortat, on the other hand, is rumored to be on the trade block prior to Thursday's deadline.
