Basketball will take a back seat for Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert this week, as his son, Nick, is scheduled to undergo major brain surgery at a Detroit-area hospital, a team spokesman told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Nick Gilbert, 21, was born with a nerve disorder called neurofibromatosis, which leaves the body vulnerable to tumors.
He already had a life-saving brain procedure more than 10 years ago, and has been treated with chemotherapy on and off for 15 years, according to McMenamin.
