Report: Seattle to host Warriors-Kings preseason game
The NBA is coming back to Seattle. Sort of.
The Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors will play a preseason game in Seattle's KeyArena on Oct. 6, according to multiple reports.
The game would be the first NBA contest in the Emerald City since the Sonics left town to become the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008. It would also mark a homecoming of sorts for Warriors star Kevin Durant, who played his rookie season with the Sonics in 2007-08.
The Kings have their own history with Seattle. In 2013, the team was nearly sold to a group who would have moved the team from Sacramento to the Pacific Northwest.
KeyArena is scheduled to begin renovations later this year for what the city hopes to be an NHL expansion team. Investors are also optimistic about returning an NBA franchise to Seattle.
