The ex-wife of Lorenzen Wright pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree murder charges in the 2010 killing of the former NBA center.

The Shelby County, Tenn., district attorney's office maintains that Sherra Wright and co-accused Billy Turner shot and killed the 34-year-old in a field outside Memphis. Wright's body was found on July 28, 2010 and he'd been missing for 10 days.

According to the indictment, there was an earlier attempt to kill Wright between April and July 2010 at his home near Atlanta.

The search for answers in Wright's death went quiet for seven-and-a-half years until Turner and Wright were arrested in December after police found a gun used in the killing.

Wright was selected seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the vaunted 1996 NBA Draft - ahead of players such as Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and Jermaine O'Neal. He suited up for five teams over 13 seasons, including five years with his hometown Grizzlies.
