Kawhi Leonard seemingly feels ready to test his right quad.

The two-time NBA All-Star plans to resume working with the team this week, and is hopeful he'll be able to return to action at some point in March, league sources told ESPN's Michael C. Wright and Adrian Wojnarowski.

He had been in New York for three weeks receiving further consultations on his quad, which has kept him sidelined since Jan. 13. Leonard was also reportedly working out at the National Basketball Players Association headquarters gym while in the city, as well.

Even though he's been medically cleared, Leonard reportedly opted not to return to the roster, as he wasn't feeling comfortable in his progress recovering from the injury.

Now the Spurs aren't going to throw Leonard into the line of fire with full 5-on-5 practices just yet, but they're at least optimistic he'll be able to take part in the not-too-distant future.

Head coach Gregg Popovich had previously stated that he'd be "surprised" if Leonard played again this season, considering there's only a little under two months remaining on the schedule before the playoffs get underway.

Leonard is only under contract with San Antonio through next season, with a player option of $21.3 million in 2019. This entire saga involving his rehab and when he'd be back on the floor has reportedly created "significant concern at the highest levels of the organization" as it pertains to Leonard's long-term future.

The two-time Defensive Player of the Year has only suited up for nine games in 2017-18, averaging 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, two steals, and a block in 23.3 minutes.

Despite his prolonged absence, the Spurs have maintained high standing in the ultra-competitive Western Conference with a 36-25 record, good enough for the third seed.
