Clyde Drexler replaces Mason as BIG3 commissioner
Hall of Famer Clyde "The Glide" Drexler has been named commissioner of the BIG3 league, replacing the outgoing Roger Mason Jr.
"Clyde is a consummate professional, revered businessman, and indisputably one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball," said league co-founders and co-CEOs Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz in a statement obtained by USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt.
"We were thrilled to have his early support as a coach for our inaugural season, and couldn't be more pleased to welcome him to the executive team as BIG3 commissioner."
The 10-time All-Star previously coach the BIG3's Power, which featured the likes of Corey Maggette, Cuttino Mobley, and Jerome Williams.
Mason was relieved of his duties due to corruption allegations involving a pair of Qatari investors he helped bring in who reportedly cheated the company out of millions of dollars.
Mason denied the claims, referring to the BIG3 as a "hostile and racist" work environment, while accusing Kwatinetz of making "countless unfounded attacks on (his) integrity, character, and leadership."
The new season kicks off June 22 at Toyota Center in Houston.
